Heather's family has a history of polycystic kidney disease. When her father was diagnosed with PKD, she and her siblings were tested. Two did not have it, and two did. Heather is a single mother and entrepreneur but always felt it was a matter of which sibling, and when she would donate. Her brother donated a kidney to her father 20 years ago and they are thriving. Heather donated a kidney to her sister and was thrilled when she got to see her healthy, giving her and her family their lives back, watching her travel and enjoy life.
After her father was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease, Cheryl and her brother were diagnosed, and her two other siblings do not have it. After years of deterioration, Cheryl was facing dialysis, was low in energy and her fashion became pyjamas. Cheryl's sister advocated for her, and she was able to have a preemptive transplant, avoiding dialysis. Cheryl now has an active life with her family, living life to the fullest, enjoying travel and getting dressed every day with all of that extra energy.
